Trace
Trace is the player’s rival in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! and Champion, serving as a friendly competitor throughout the adventure. He shares a childhood bond with the player character, embarking on their Pokémon journey together.
He fulfills a role similar to that of Blue in the Generation I games and their remakes, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen.

Core series appearence
Trace is characterized by his friendly demeanor and competitive spirit, he is a kind-hearted yet somewhat timid boy from Pallet Town, who embarks on his journey when Professor Oak entrusts him and the player with Pokémon. Initially receiving a normal Eevee/Pikachu, which evolves into Jolteon/Raichu, Trace traverses the Kanto region, aiding the player with guidance and items while challenging Gym Leaders.
In Lavender Town, Trace encounters Cubone, whose mother was killed by Team Rocket, and pledges to aid Cubone in seeking revenge, inspiring him to become stronger. Together with Cubone and their party, Trace assists the player in battling Team Rocket at Silph Co., ultimately becoming the Champion at Indigo Plateau. However, he loses the title to the player and seeks to reclaim it through rematches at the Pokémon League while also guiding them to powerful Pokémon in Cerulean Cave.
Anime appearences
In “The Discovery”, the eighth and final episode of Pokémon Evolutions (animated miniseries), Trace ventures into Cerulean Cave to capture Mewtwo, competing with Green for the legendary Pokémon. When his Pidgeot is attacked by Zubat and Golbat, he stops to heal it, allowing Green to advance. Eventually, Trace reunites with Green and Elaine at Professor Oak’s Laboratory before continuing their journey together.
In these series Trace’s Pokémon team consist of Pidgeot and Jolteon.
