Despite her tough exterior, Misty has a compassionate side, especially towards injured or abandoned Pokémon. Misty admires Lorelei of the Elite Four and has aspirations for Cerulean Cape as a romantic destination. She also dreams of traveling after further honing her skills.

 

In various Pokémon games (Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, FireRed, and LeafGreen and Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!), Misty is the Cerulean Gym Leader, the second challenge on the player’s journey. Alongside the Cascade Badge, Misty awards TM11 (BubbleBeam) in Red, Blue, and Yellow, TM03 (Water Pulse) in FireRed and LeafGreen, and TM29 (Scald) in Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!.

 

In Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, Misty emerges in Vermilion City following the player’s triumph over Lt. Surge. She volunteers to guide them to the entrance of Diglett’s Cave on Route 11 and mentions her occasional visits to Vermilion for a seaside swim.

 

In Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold, and SoulSilver, Misty continues her role as the Gym Leader of Cerulean Gym. Players can challenge her after encountering the Team Rocket Grunt who stole the Machine Part from the Kanto Power Plant at the Gym.

 

In HeartGold and SoulSilver, after obtaining all 16 Badges and resolving the Suicune encounter, Misty can be located on Route 25.

 

In Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, Misty joins other Kanto Gym Leaders in the Kanto Leaders Tournament at the Pokémon World Tournament. Additionally, she competes in the World Leaders Tournament and the Water Type Expert Tournament.

At the conclusion of the original series, Misty takes on the role of Cerulean Gym Leader to ensure its continuity. Despite her duties, she occasionally reunites with Ash during his adventures in the Mirage Kingdom and Battle Frontier arcs. In Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon, Misty makes appearances in Kanto and Alola storylines. Inspired by the Masters Eight Tournament, she embarks on a journey with Ash once more in Pokémon Journeys: The Series before ultimately returning to her Gym responsibilities.

 

Misty also appeares in Pokémon Origins mini-series, in the second episode. She was shown being challenged to a Gym battle by Red, who later defeated her off-screen, earning the young Pokémon Trainer the Cascade Badge.

Ash & Pikachu – Misty is featured this manga inspired by the Pokémon anime (on the Johto, Hoenn, and Battle Frontier seasons). Similar to her role in the animated series, he accompanies Ash on his journey, along with Brock.

 

The Electric Tale of Pikachu – In this manga inspired by the Pokémon anime, Misty frequently appears as a recurring character. However, he doesn’t accompany Ash and Brock throughout their entire journey.

 

Magical Pokémon Journey – Brock, Ash, and Misty make cameo appearances in bonus chapters of this manga.

Pokémon Adventures

 

Red, Green & Blue arc – Misty makes her debut in “Gyarados Splashes In!”, where Red rescues her from her Gyarados, angered by Team Rocket’s experiments. Together, they thwart Team Rocket’s plans and locate the Moon Stone at Mt. Moon.

 

Yellow arcMisty converses with Professor Oak about Red’s disappearance and later joins forces with other “good” Gym Leaders to confront Super Nerd Miles. Additionally, she faces delays from Agatha during their encounters.

 

Gold, Silver & Crystal arc – Misty’s hairstyle changes to match her appearance in Pokémon Gold and Silver. Suicune recruits Misty as its partner during the Team Rocket crisis, boosting her confidence. She defeats Whitney easily but gets injured in a battle with the Masked Man. Later, she communicates with Erika through Red’s Pokégear, creating tension due to Red’s feelings for Misty, observed by Yellow and remarked upon by Green.

 

In this manga Misty’s Pokémon team consist of Staryu, Starmie, Krabby, Goldeen, Chinchou and Lanturn.

 

Additionaly, Misty received Gyarados from Red after he rescued the Pokémon from Team Rocket’s experiments. However, Misty traded Gyarados for Red’s Krabby. Also with the aid of her Lanturn, Misty managed to capture Suicune, which sought a Trainer to confront the Masked Man. Sadly, Misty’s injuries from battling the mastermind compelled Suicune to join forces with Crystal and depart from her side.

Pocket Monsters HGSS Jō’s Big Adventure – In the fifth chapter of this manga,  JBA5, Misty was depicted as a silhouette alongside her Starmie and the other Kanto Gym Leaders.

 

Pokémon Pocket Monsters – Red encounters Misty while in search of a Moon Stone with his Pikachu and Clefairy. Misty makes a cameo appearance in ”Clefairy, Form Teacher Of Class 1P!!”, sporting her attire from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. In this manga Misty’s Pokémon team consist of Blastoise, Jigglypuff and Togepi.

 

Pokémon Zensho – Satoshi arrives at the Cerulean Gym, where Misty provides him with swimming trunks for their battle. During the match, his Charmander fears the water, and Pikachu struggles in it, leading to Satoshi nearly drowning. Misty rescues him and offers to teach him proper swimming techniques. As they train, Misty shares a story about being saved by a Dewgong, instilling gratitude toward water Pokémon. After thwarting Team Rocket, Satoshi earns the Cascade Badge and Misty’s Seel as a token of gratitude.
